Guillermo Montesinos, protagonist of the Inaugural Gala of the 11th edition of MICE

The actor from Castelló de la Plana was honored by the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu at the opening ceremony of the festival, held at the Teatro Flumen in Valencia. In the morning, the town of Càrcer hosted the Inaugural Children’s Gala.

The eleventh edition of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu de València begins. And it does so with a beautiful tribute to one of the great actors that this land has given: Guillermo Montesinos. The artist from Castelló de la Plana received all the attention of a packed Flumen Theater, appearing excited by this gift that rewards a film career full of successes.

“How nice it is that they remember you in your land. For me, receiving an award like this is the demonstration that things have been done well for so many years of career,” declared the excited actor Guillermo Montesinos, who added: “that cinema is studied in schools is a vindication of all life, already in the 70s we fought it. Now, after so many years, everything remains the same, but festivals like MICE show that we are on the right path.”

The Inaugural Gala began in the street, with a party of lights, colors and music by the theater company La Fam, which left the attendees speechless with its animated show ‘Achilles’. In addition, the parade was lively thanks to the participation of the inclusive batucada Tymbals Di Percussion, which provided the musical note and rhythm to this party.

Once inside the Flumen Theater, the gala was hosted by Cashlada, the group formed by Noèlia Pérez and Josep Zapater, as well as by the fun MICE mascot, “Bartola”, who enlivened the gala and accompanied the dance and music numbers represented. . One of the most special moments has been experienced thanks to the “Mar en Dansa” dance company who, with their synchronized movements, have set the dance note for a dream gala.

One of the first speeches of the night was that of Josep Arbiol, director of the festival, who recalled “the importance of the support of the institutions so that this dream continues to advance and does not stop.” Furthermore, Arbiol recognized “the altruistic work of each and every one of the people who make this festival possible, with many people behind it who collaborate to make an event of this size a reality.”

The councilor for culture, heritage and cultural resources of the Valencia City Council, José Luis Moreno Maicas, also took the lectern, pointing out “the importance of a festival like MICE, which was born from schools and is now a benchmark at the level.” educational and cultural”.

In addition to the award honoring Guillermo Montesinos, the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu wanted to remember in this edition another festival that values audiovisuals and education, such as Plasencia Encorto, which celebrated its 10th edition this year. Also noteworthy is the presence of the German filmmaker Stefan Westerwelle, director of the film screened in the last part of the gala: “What the Finn!”

The Inaugural Children’s Gala took place in the morning in Càrcer

The CEIP Pare Gumilla in Càrcer, in Ribera Alta, hosted the start of the official programming of the International Educational Cinema Show with a gala organized by the center’s own students. The different pre-school and primary school years participated in a flashmob that paid tribute to the guest country of this 11th edition, Italy.

Already at the Antonio Rodriguez Castellano Cultural Center, the Inaugural Gala was held, with the speeches of the mayor of the municipality, Tomás Lloret, the director of the festival, Josep Arbiol, and the attendance of the provincial deputy Laura Sáez. The event was used to present the prizes for the school’s artistic contest, which recognized the best designs of the “bartola”, the festival’s mascot. To end this cultural morning, the boys and girls attended the screening of the film “Mavka, Guardian of the Forest”, with a video message exclusively for the festival from one of its co-directors, Oleh Malamuzh.
