MICE 2023 ends, with 38 educational centers awarded

The CEIP La Muralla in Canet d’en Berenguer, the Sant Roc school in Alcoi and the IES Maria Enríquez in Gandia are some of the centers awarded this year, thanks to the high level of their audiovisual projects, carried out in class by teachers and students.

The Micalet Theater in Valencia said goodbye to the 11th edition of the Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu with a great Closing Gala that rewarded the best audiovisual projects made by schoolchildren in 2023. A total of 50 awards, 38 of them for educational centers and 12 for audiovisual professionals, were delivered this Thursday afternoon, all of them received by their authors: boys and girls protagonists of the award-winning films, teachers and other education professionals, in a gala that brought together more than 250 people and that had music, cinema, humor and a lot of emotion.

Among all the awards awarded, we can highlight the awards for best Valencian audiovisual, chosen by a professional jury, which was, in the primary and children’s category, for the Aulario CRA El Trescaire de Benlloc; and in the Secondary and Baccalaureate category for the 1st ESO course at the IES Maria Ibars in Dénia. In the state category, the awards reached Cilleros (Cáceres), Madrid, Cambados (Pontevedra), Olot (Girona), Zaragoza or Barcelona. And also highlight the Accessible Mice category, with very special awards for the work done by the CEIP Sanchis Guarner of Llocnou d’en Fenollet, the CEIP Serreria of València or the CEIP Xarquia of Antella.

À Punt, as the official media of MICE 2023, also presented the La Colla À Punt award, a special award that recognizes audiovisual pieces with content in values. This year they have been for the short ‘La colla d’especialistes’, from the CEIP Teodoro Llorente in Valencia; and for ‘La mestra, audiovisual made by the IES Maria Ibas of Dénia.

Josep Arbiol, director of the MICE, declared during the event that “we have to be very happy for the success of this edition, which has surpassed all records, managing to reach more than 40,000 students from the entire Valencian Community”, betting on ” an even better 12th MICE next year, more professional and with more educational participation. Also participating in the gala was Miquel Francés, president of the Governing Council of the Valencian Media Corporation, who addressed the students present: “you are the future of the sector. Here are the people who in a few years will support the Valencian audiovisual sector, as well I just encourage you to continue and congratulate the students and teachers for a job well done.”

The conclusion gala was enlivened and presented by Wilfrid Energía Humana, Alicia Llorca and Beatriz Terrades, with the prior participation of Benifaió in dansa, who provided the music, dance and tradition for the opening minutes of the event.

A record-breaking MICE: successful participation in this 11th edition.

The Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu de València breaks all records in its 11th edition, with almost 43,000 young people participating in the more than 50 activities proposed by the festival for 2023. Film screenings, but also workshops, cultural activities, games and different educational events aimed at students and teachers of the more than 30 municipalities chosen this year to be part of the educational network that is MICE.

Susi Sánchez, Guillermo Montesinos, Stefan Westerwelle, Ana Laura Calderón, Christian Lo and Andrey Khadzhivasilev have been some of the personalities from the world of international cinema who have graced the pink carpet during this edition.

Audiovisual is more present than ever in the educational programs of schools, and the objective of this festival is to continue growing so that there is more and more cinema in schools, more students interested in learning about the audiovisual world and more education professionals. with cinematography as an important tool in their teaching methods.

MICE wants to continue consolidating itself in the Valencian Community and be the reference festival for educational cinema both in Spain and in the rest of Europe. That is why its objective is to continue working throughout the year with schools, teachers and interested students, and achieve a 12th edition of a high artistic level, with films made in class, but also with professional projects that have as their goal education promote good behavior, universal values and human rights.
